The Head and Not the Tail
Many people have a deep desire to excel in whatever they are doing. They want to be top of their class at school, to be a winner, to rise to high positions in society and business, to have the most gifted children. It seems impossible that everyone should be so triumphant. Humanly there is just not room enough for everyone at the top.
Yet the Bible promises that those who keep God's commandments will be lifted from mediocrity to excellence. It says, "The Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them." Deut. 28:13;
How, then, can the human craving to excel be universally satisfied? How can everyone reap the reward of their obedience to God's law that it is their right to enjoy according to this Scriptural prophecy?
