When I was eight years old, I lived with my grandmother in a large house, the rooms of which she let out to students. One day, when I was emptying a wastepaper basket, I saw some money in one of the rooms. I began to help myself when I felt like it. When this was discovered, my aunt talked to me very lovingly and explained how wrong it was. A few years later, however, the temptation to steal came again. When my father found out, he said nothing to me about it, but one day he came and sat on my bed and read me Hymn No. 382 from the Christian Science Hymnal. One verse reads,
Thou art Truth's honest child,
Of pure and sinless heart;
Thou treadest undefiled
In Christly paths apart.
