Respect Begins Where We Are
We all want respect. Nobody likes to be slighted, ignored, or abused, whether he's eight or eighty.
For example, we'd like people to listen when we have something to say. We want to be well-thought-of, and treated that way. We want others to recognize that we have something to contribute. We need an inner feeling of real value and worth.
How do we go about attaining these things? Many people today, while battling for some measure of self-respect in their lives, evidently feel like the man who was asked directions on how to get somewhere. He scratched his head a moment and simply said, "You just can't get there from here."
