Where Am I?

Have we not all been tempted at one time or another to think, "I feel like a square peg in a round hole"? This invariably follows such thinking as "I am really unhappy in my work" or "in my home" or "in this climate."

Yet in the Bible we learn that God, Spirit, created the heaven and earth and all that is in them, and that "it was very good." Gen. 1:31; In a creation composed of good is there any aspect unlike good to cause unhappiness or discontent? Of course not! Then why do we sometimes seem to experience such feelings? Because we have accepted in thought the possibility of something else besides God's spiritual creation.

Just as Adam and Eve got into trouble when they believed the serpent of mortality, so the human being today has difficulties because he believes in the mortal sense of things. Certainly the mortal scene may seem very real at times, just as a dream may seem very real to the dreamer. Yet Christian Science makes clear that there can be only one true creation, not two, and that to be infinite it must be wholly spiritual, not mortal. The very word "mortal" means to be subject to death, or limited.
