A number of years ago it became mandatory for me to drive an automobile. However, I was very fearful about driving. I did prayerful work on this matter but to no avail.

One day I had just finished reading the Lesson-Sermon when I decided to reread it in order to find the correct solution to this problem.

The lesson included the account of Moses and the serpent (see Ex. 4:1-5). Pondering this account, I was led to read an article in the Sentinel that dealt with the same incident. The author of the article stated that when Moses, in obedience to God, cast the serpent down—cast the lie or error out of his consciousness—it became a rod or source of strength, a protection, to him. Here was what I needed and would use. I held to these truths, and when the serpent, fear, arose in my consciousness, I cast it out knowing that God was the only power and presence. Soon I was mastering the automobile instead of letting it master me, and I passed the test for my driver's license.

I have received much protection while driving an automobile by relying on the truths of Christian Science.

More recently I became very ill with a painful arm condition. I could not lift my arm or raise my hand to my shoulder without suffering a great deal of pain, and any bodily movement such as walking or even taking a step became quite painful. I then phoned a Christian Science practitioner and asked for treatment. Help was given, but for some time the condition only yielded slightly. The practitioner then voiced to me that true health consists of happiness, joy, and a sense of well-being. He then further stated that these are qualities of God, which He is constantly imparting to man, and that man's birthright as a child of God is dominion, not subjection. Each time I became discouraged I held to these truths, and I was soon able to sleep, something I had not been able to do for several nights. Soon a complete healing followed.

Through my own prayerful work and the treatment given by practitioners many other ills have been overcome, such as boils, sore throat, rash, severe colds, and headaches and fever accompanied with severe pain.

Class instruction from a dedicated teacher of Christian Science came to me in a harmonious manner when I listened to God for divine direction, whereas previously I had been trying to outline humanly who my teacher would be.

I am grateful to be a member of The Mother Church and to have served in the Sunday School in a branch church, thus being able to contribute a small part to the Christian Science movement.

It's a great, wide, wonderful world of God's planning since I came to really know something of Christian Science.

I attended a Christian Science Sunday School with a kind neighbor when I was a teen-ager. However, until sixteen years ago, when I felt as though backed up against a stone wall with nowhere to turn but to God's goodness, I understood little of this spiritually mental way of life as revealed in Christian Science.

My husband was in the Air Force, stationed in Germany. When my daughter and I joined him, I was taking a pill every thirty-six hours to alleviate severe itching over my entire body. The Air Force doctor felt the malady must be some form of nervous disorder, but really did not know what to do about it, except to prescribe a pill every day and a half. By the time I had been overseas six months, I was taking a pill every day, and the medical verdict was that I would take pills with increasing frequency the rest of my life. This seemed ridiculous. In my extremity I was led to consult a most dedicated student of Christian Science, who explained the basic teachings to me. He said, among other things, that I needed to know God as All, and that when I began to see myself as an idea of God, I would no longer need the pills. This proved to be the case. In fact, in a few weeks I not only did not need the pills but forgot when I had stopped taking them, so completely was my thought filled with the truth of God's goodness.

Since that precious experience years ago my entire life has rewardingly expanded and changed. A new and interesting profession has worked out for me. My physical body seldom presents itself to me as a problem, and I have seen my daughter take this great gift of God's allness and become a dedicated student of Science. Finally, daily, even hourly, Christian Science is pure joy. The certain sense of inner peace that comes with a growing understanding of the truth of this revealed Science can make every moment quietly joyous, completely good—a total spiritual adventure.

I must add a word of gratitude for the dedicated practitioner who has constantly turned my thought Spiritward, and for the timely periodicals that contain so much good.

Truly, "the Lord God omnipotent reigneth" (Rev. 19:6)
