I consider myself privileged to have had the opportunity of attending many annual Christian Science conferences for military personnel and their families, provided by The Mother Church in Berchtesgaden, Germany. During the years of our overseas residence, while my husband has been employed by the Government, I have always looked forward to these four days of inspiration.
I would like to recount in this testimony the situation that led to my first conference nine years ago.
My parents were students of Christian Science. During the years when I was growing up there was always a precious family spirit that each member cherished. When I married, my husband had many questions about my faith, which I felt unable to clarify. It became very difficult for me to defend something that I had, apparently, just taken for granted. Unwisely, I found it easier just to let Christian Science drop and to coast along as the new wife trying to play her role according to her husband's specifications.
