Thought-watchers for Peace

"They have healed also the hurt of . . . my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace."
Jer. 6:14;  Today, as in Biblical times, the words of Jeremiah the prophet sound forth to awakened consciousness.

What is peace? What does it mean exactly? A synonym for peace is quietness. In reference to society, peace is defined as "a state of public quiet." In the quest for peace, then, who or what is it that is to become quiet, and where is quiet to be manifest? The seeker for peace will find many selections in the Bible regarding the subject of quiet. We read, "Whoso hearkeneth unto me [wisdom] shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil,"
Prov. 1:33;  and "When he [God] giveth quietness, who then can make trouble?"
Job 34:29;

The human consciousness sorely needs this quiet, and only within consciousness is peace to be won. The causes of war exist in human consciousness. The outward manifestation of war is only the effect of warlike thoughts within, and no condition can be healed by dealing merely with effect. If war is ever to be banished from the earth, reason demands that its cause be attacked.
