Do We Live in Time or in Eternity?

Who isn't in a hurry? Most people are. They complain that they haven't time to do this or that or something else. But as long as they think in terms of time, or so many minutes or hours or days in which to achieve something, they will feel pushed by the limitations imposed by time. Like squirrels in a cage running around in circles, people often find the days and the years repeating themselves while little of worth is actually accomplished.

The best way for us to elude frustration over time is to become more and more conscious of eternity. Perhaps we haven't realized that we actually live in eternity in the measure that we express the perfect, timeless qualities of God, eternal Life, such qualities as joy, intelligence, wisdom, integrity, love.

Christian Science distinguishes clearly between time and eternity, showing that they never really meet. Mary Baker Eddy says in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures: "Eternity, not time, expresses the thought of Life, and time is no part of eternity. One ceases in proportion as the other is recognized. Time is finite; eternity is forever infinite." Science and Health, pp. 468, 469;
