Spiritual Insight: Its Importance in Healing

Many people are concerned over the rising tide of materialism that is threatening to wipe out the moral and spiritual values that make our civilization and culture worth preserving. But there is a sense of inadequacy as to what to do about it.

Christian Science practitioners find that when they minister to the spiritual needs of those who come to them for help, what appear to be physical as well as moral needs are adequately met, and the individual gradually develops a sense of superiority over his environment. No doubt this was the secret of the success of Christ Jesus in "healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people" (Matt. 4:2:5).

The reports of his healing work in the Gospels, fragmentary as they are, impress us with the fact that Jesus had a spiritual insight that enabled him to go to the bottom of human problems and deal with them basically, that is, spiritually. This was a primary factor in the observations he made and in the outstanding works he accomplished.
