It is with great joy that I send...

It is with great joy that I send this testimony for our periodicals. Over two years ago I was stricken with a severe pain in one of my toes. I did not know much about Christian Science then, and my daughter was the only one in our home who was interested in it, but I called a practitioner for help. The severe pain immediately left, but the healing was not complete.

Back in my mind was the belief that I could obtain relief through materia medica and I went to the hospital. The practitioner lovingly told me that while I was in the hospital she would cease working for me, but my daughter had help continually in keeping her own thought clear.

After consultations, the family were called together and the doctors informed them that an amputation at the knee was necessary. They gave a strange name to the condition, which they considered a rare and incurable malady. When I thought over their verdict, I decided that I was in a worse condition than when I entered the hospital, so I returned home. I then asked the practitioner to help me again, and a Christian Science nurse was engaged. Work was faithfully done, and what impressed me most was the fact that I was encouraged to think universally and actively, and this led to consideration of church membership. As I progressed. I was accepted as a member of The Mother Church. I was also encouraged to attend a Christian Science lecture. My wheel chair was placed on the stage behind the curtain, and with the nurse I enjoyed the lecture and received much good from it.
