As I sit here on the island of Tinian in the Pacific thinking of the things for which I am grateful, I realize that "my cup runneth over" with God's love, protection, guidance, and goodness.

I experienced one of my greatest proofs of God's protection when I flew overseas. For hours our flight had been in perfect harmony. All the passengers were reading, sleeping, talking, or playing games. Then I became aware that one of our engines was on the verge of breaking down and the plane no longer was flying smoothly. The passengers, one by one, stopped their reading, and the atmosphere was full of unrest. A thought a loving Christian Scientist had given me just before I left for overseas duty came to me: I knew that God was with us, and that where God is there can be no inharmony, no failure.

I realized that those in the plane, as ideas of God, could not be overcome by fear. Only love and the understanding of God's protection were present.
