Christian Science was first presented...
Christian Science was first presented to me by a friend at a time when I had lost all faith in religion. Her explanation of God as Love caused me to become interested in the subject, and I began to attend the Christian Science Sunday School. The privilege of having this early instruction changed the whole course of my life from one of sickness, unhappiness and selfishness to one of health, joy, and harmony.
The passage on page 227 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy beginning with the words, "Christian Science raises the standard of liberty and cries: 'Follow me! Escape from the bondage of sickness, sin, and death!'" was a great inspiration to me. The promise of freedom in the rest of the paragraph, "Citizens of the world, accept the 'glorious liberty of the children of God.' and be free!" has been fulfilled through the study of this marvelous subject throughout many years. I have also gained some measure of that universality of thought which is implied in the words "citizens of the world."
One of the many healings I have had through Christian Science took place in a strange city far from my own home. My work at that time required me to be in a different city each week. I fell ill on this occasion with influenza. I looked up a name of a practitioner in The Christian Science Journal and telephoned for help. Immediate healing came from the loving aid, and I was able to continue my work in normal health and strength.
