In December of 1942, the members of my household and I started for the home of my parents in Wisconsin. Two days prior to that I had noticed that the second finger of my right hand was much swollen. Unwilling to be disturbed, and not mentally alert enough to handle the error immediately as we are taught in Christian Science, I simply turned from it and we continued with our plans to go on the trip.
When we were two days away from home, on the train, the finger presented a very unwholesome picture. We arrived on 'December 20, and although the family was not aware of the condition, it was extremely painful.
The services of a Christian Science practitioner were engaged, and his first request was that we immediately look away from the material manifestation, turn unreservedly to divine Love for help, and in so doing prove that the law of God, infinite good, is ever operative.
