The Scriptures inform us that...

The Scriptures inform us that Jesus' fame spread throughout all the country and preceded him wherever he went. Christianity spread in those days because of the public acknowledgment of physical healings brought about through metaphysical methods. Today Christian Scientists gratefully testify, either at their regular Wednesday evening testimony meetings, which all are cordially invited to attend, or through the authorized Christian Science periodicals, to the healing efficacy of Truth as presented to them in their textbook, written by the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy.

Nearly everyone is familiar with the Biblical story of the lame beggar who was "laid daily at the gate of the temple ... to ask alms" (Acts 3:2). Peter was the only one in the multitude who realized his real need and "lifted him up." He was healed immediately, and we are told that he went with Peter and John into the temple, "walking, and leaping, and praising God. And all the people saw him walking and praising God." Surely this state of exaltation was not caused by the physical healing alone.

Before taking up the study of Christian Science there were times when I felt that I had received much, help from materia medica, but not until my first healing in Christian Science did I ever experience an exalted feeling or a desire to know more about that which had brought about the healing. This state of exaltation is explained by Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health (p. 466), "Science will declare God aright, and Christianity will demonstrate this declaration and its divine Principle, making mankind better physically, morally, and spiritually."
