Demands Reciprocal

Infinite are the demands that God makes upon us. No less infinite are the demands that we may rightly make upon God.

Throughout the teachings of Christ Jesus and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy, it is made very clear that the destruction of sickness, sin, and death is demanded of us. Referring to the power bestowed on man to overcome all that opposes good, Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 233), "This is an element of progress, and progress is the law of God, whose law demands of us only what we can certainly fulfil."

The demand which men may make of God is in the assurance of His love, His ever-present care. Rightly they may demand the discernment to know His purpose for them, and their ability to fulfill it. Unquestioning reliance upon God implies the certainty of His unvarying support. The Bible is full of the righteous reciprocal demands of God and of man.
