Reports from the Field

The time allotted at the Annual Meeting permitted the reading of only a few of the reports received, but a complete list of churches and societies sending messages for this occasion was printed in The Christian Science Monitor of June 8, 1931. The following are characteristic of the many, which have necessarily been condensed.

Twenty Churches of Chicago, Illinois, present the following forward steps, foremost of which is the addition of Twenty-first Church in the numerical list of churches. Eighteenth Church has dedicated its edifice; Twelfth is rapidly liquidating the indebtedness on its church structure; and Nineteenth recently purchased a lot for its building site. Seventh Church continues to radiocast the Lesson-Sermon on Sunday mornings with gratifying reports of healing. At our lectures a recent innovation of reserving seats for those who have never heard a Christian Science lecture has been tried out most successfully in some of the churches with satisfactory reports of resultant healings.

First Church, Melbourne, Australia, has cause for deep gratitude in reviewing its activities. The four lectures in October, 1930, were exceptionally well attended, and on every hand we hear of healings and fruitage. An important event was the lecture given at the Penal Establishment, Pentridge. The chief librarian at the Melbourne Public Library consented to having the books on Christian Science classified correctly, and agreed to list them under "Authorized and Approved;" "Unauthorized and Controversial." The Christian Science Pavilion at the Agricultural Show was again used extensively. Many earnest and unprejudiced members of other churches came, seeking the real facts about Christian Science.
