When I stop to realize what Christian Science has done for me and mine, my heart is overwhelmed with love and gratitude to God, and to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has brought to us this healing truth which does indeed make free from sickness and sin. I had been a sufferer for more than twenty years from stomach trouble, and there was scarcely a day that I did not take medicine of some kind. I had undergone two operations in that time, each one leaving me in a worse condition than before. Three years ago the doctors told me that my heart was pushed out of place and that they could do nothing more for me. Later, I found out that the last doctor told my hushand I could not live more than a week or ten days.

At that time I expressed a wish to have a friend whom I to be a Christian Scientist, call on me. She had never spoken about this teaching to me, and I knew nothing of it, but after she told me what it had done for her and many others of whom she knew, I asked her if she would please leave the room, as I was going to get out of bed; for if God had healed her He could heal me also, since I knew that He is "no respecter of persons." The pain in my heart left me right then and there. That evening, when my hushand came home and found me up and dressed, he asked if I had gone crazy, but I told him that I was just becoming same.

The following day a practitioner came to see me, and I shall never forget the talk we had together. After two or three days she said to me, "It is spiritual healing that you need." I replied, "Yes, that is what I want. I do not care so much about the pain if only I can learn to know God aright." I did not then realize that to know God is to know all, and that to be healed mentally is to be healed physically. I had worn glasses for many years, and at the time of my healing my eyes were in such a condition that I could no longer use them for reading or other work which demanded the least strain, without suffering the most intense pain, but after a week's treatment the glasses were removed and I have never used them since. My sight is now perfect and there is absolutely no pain; I can use my eyes night and day if necessary, without the slightest inconvenience.
