It is through Christian Science that I am alive to-day. I was suffering from hereditary consumption with its attending ills. The last trouble that developed was in my right side. The doctor said my liver was hardening. We had tried many physicians, but they could not do anything for me. The last one said that there was no help, and I probably would not live three months. He did all he could; blistering and outside applications were resorted to, but failed to relieve the pain. It was at this time that a kind neighbor came in to ask us to attend a lecture on Christian Science, and talked with my husband about my case, telling him I could be healed; but as I was so far gone and everything had been tried without benefit, he thought she did not know what she was talking about. She then asked to be allowed to be allowed to bring in some reading matter, to which he consented, and it was my reading in the Sentinel and Journal of the wonderful cases of healing, that gave me new hope of life. We each felt thankful to God for this; it was indeed a revelation to us to learn that God is here and now healing the sick and reforming the sinner,—ready to help all who come to Him. I looked in the Journal for the name of a practitioner and asked for help, which was lovingly given. I received treatment for two weeks. On the third day I was healed of chronic constipation; the trouble in my side and consumption were healed in two weeks.

This was over six years ago, and I have never had any return of these diseases, in any way. I have been entirely free from them since that time, and many minor troubles have also disappeared. We have proved many times that God is a very present help in time of trouble. For the physical healing I feel very thankful, but my greatest blessing through Christian Science is the spiritual uplifting and the understanding of the Bible gained through "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. Now we go daily to the Bible and Science and Health for our health and comfort. They have revealed to our understanding the living God, good. I feel an ever-increasing sense of gratitude to God, and to our dear Leader for Christian Science, and for what it has done for us when everything else had failed and I was facing death. It has proved the words of Jesus to us many times,—"Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
