When Christian Science was first brought to my notice
When Christian Science was first brought to my notice. I had begun to feel that life was an ugly dream with more sorrow and suffering in it than anything else. Troubles of all kinds had fallen thick and fast around us. Some were of a nature that could be risen above with a brave heart, but others seemed utterly impossible to cope with. One such had come to me in the form of eye trouble, which the doctors called inflammation of the tear glands. They kindly did all they could to destroy the seeming enemy, but all in vain. Blindness seemed inevitable. I had to go into a dark room as soon as the gas was lighted, and keep a shade over my eyes in daytime, since even the daylight was painful to me.
While I was still in this condition, and waiting to see what would be done next, thanks be to God, the giver of all good, a dear friend came to me with Christian Science. I gladly accepted it, and after a few weeks' treatment, besides what study I could see to give to Science and Health, my eyes were completely healed, and have remained so ever since, although I have used them constantly to do a kinds of fine work. Since that time, seven years ago, through our little understanding of Divine power, we have been able to overcome many other errors in our home, for all of which we are truly thankful, and now wish to express our gratitude to God for the light that has come into the world again, and has been given to poor, suffering humanity by this one most faithful woman, our beloved Leader and Teacher, Mrs. Eddy.
