The following is representative of the testimony which was given to the jury in the case of The People us. Merrill Reed et al, heard in Los Angeles, Cal., November last. It is especially interesting in view of the fact that it was given by people well known to the local public at large, witnesses who were subject to cross–examination at the pleasure of the court and counsel.

Mr. J. J. Petermichel, stenographer for the Southern California Fruit Exchange, testified:—
