I have been wanting for a long time to write my demonstration...
I have been wanting for a long time to write my demonstration to the Sentinel, to help fill the list of the proofs of God's power over error. This demonstration I am going to speak of was made last summer. My sister and I were out in the country, and we were going to get a drink at a wind-pump. The handle was unbolted, and in connecting the handle while the windmill was running, one of my fingers was caught under the handle and the joint was mashed. In a short time it was swollen twice its natural size. For a moment I thought of pain, and just as quick as I thought of Truth my finger stopped paining. My sister asked me if my finger hurt me; I said, "No, there is no pain in Truth." I then repeated the prayer in the Manual. When I got home error said there was sensation in matter, and I realized that God was an ever-present help in trouble. I forgot to say my finger was curved like a hook and was black and blue on both sides. I read Science and Health, and the swelling went down, but yet my finger was curved. This happened on Sunday, and on Wednesday Truth had done its work, for my finger was as straight as the other and there was not even a mark left. That proved to me that if we rely on God He will be an ever-present help in trouble.
I would like to speak of the children's Sunday School, which numbers about thirty earnest little workers for this Truth that makes us all free. My sister and brother and I have not missed our places in this little band for two years. We go a distance of two miles, and some of the children come six and ten miles. I give this, for I am always glad to hear from the children.
