Christian Science brought Many Blessings

The blessings that Christian Science has brought to our home are innumerable. The first was my own healing fifteen years ago. For three years I had been a great sufferer from organic trouble for which surgery, electricity, and everything that medical skill could suggest had been tried. The best physicians finally agreed upon one point, that my trouble was beyond the reach of surgery, and nothing more could be done.

Ten years before this my sister had passed away with a somewhat similar trouble. We were raised strict Presbyterians, and often she would say, "Oh, why cannot prayer heal the sick now as it did when Christ was on earth?" We had not then learned that the dear Christ is never absent, and that already the clear light of this understanding was dawning upon human consciousness.

In the year 1886, when in the depth of misery and despair, this light came to me. I was healed through the treatment of a loyal student of our beloved Leader, and the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." My healing was not rapid. It was about three months before I could say I was entiely well. A new world opened up to me, as the fetters which had bound my sense of God were loosened, and I could say "Thy will be done," without the terrible fear that it might be His will to take me from my husband and child.
