OUR KNIGHT

Surely he'd come, this knight, and like the king,Arthur of old, redress the wrong and standFor honor, justice, and for stainless truth! In dream I saw him draw his sword,—the Word,Before whose power wrong shrinks, abashed and pale,Foreseeing doom in this one flash of light.

UNFOLDING FAITH

O Tend'Rest Love, that guides the stumbling feet,And keepest them in paths where Thou dost bide;I cannot stray beyond Thy watchful care,But always 'neath Thy shelt'ring wing may hide.

LOST AND FOUND

I saw that in order to find my life, I had to first lose it—that is, lose all sense of life as material.

ASPIRATION

Make me a savor of sweetness,A sweet-smelling savor of Love,To hearts that know not the repleteness,Of life that is breathed from above.

IN LOVE I LIVE

In Love man lives, forever pure and fair,Forever free from things which seem to bind,His real life is within the realm of Mind,The power of Truth is here and everywhere; In Love, man lives.

THE PROVING

How do I know my immortality?

THE LIGHT

When Love along our pathway leads, We take no thought for daily needs,— But stroll along in pastures green Which hitherto we have not seen; And tho' the day turns into night, Love leads us onward toward the light.

For expectant mothers

The more fully we accept the spiritual nature of birth, the more effortlessly we can demonstrate that nothing has occurred from which one needs to recover.

The demand for church

I like to think of each church that grows up in a community as that community's answered prayer for the presence of the saving Christ—the message of God's love for humanity.

THE SUM OF MANHOOD

A seer of Teman counseled one in woe, Whose cup of blight and banishment severeBut seasoned faith to bide the bitter flow Till tale of loss should ring with saintly cheer,—

THE CRUSE OF PLENTY

I have learned a helpful lessonWhich a sweet assurance brings,—Just a lesson to be thankfulFor the gift of little things.
One little seed of Life outspedInto earth's death-filled thought,And the roots will strengthen, and grow, and spread,Till the tree springs up, and the leaves o'erheadTheir healing balm on the nations shed,Who freedom from fear have sought.

THE INCOMING TIDE

When evening steeps the world in rest,A sigh steals from the sea's deep breastLike echo of an ocean's roar.

MY WORK IS AT HAND.

Why should I wish to face some problem great,As though to reach the sooner heaven's gate?

MY COMMUNION

In silence deep there comes to meA sweet assurance of God's care;Life, Truth, and Love encompass me,I know that He is everywhere.
