Poems

Galilee

Dear Sea of Galilee, beloved,Your waves are blue with heaven's light,And o'er you, now, as in the past,Keep guard the shining stars at night.

Love Divine

Thou Love that wilt not let us goHowever far we stray,Thou Love that shed'st Thy friendly lightAlong our darkest way,In vain we would from Thee depart,In vain alone would go,But Love that knows nor time nor spaceDoes all His children know.

My Prayer

In Thy vineyard, O my Father,Let me serve with happy heart,In Thy mighty work of heart,Let me have a humble part.
I hear to-day the echo of a voiceThat rang in Judah's hills long years ago!A slender boy clad in a shepherd's coat,And in his hand a sling: from out the brookThat rippled in sweet purity alongHe took five stones—rounded, decisive thoughts; And with his face aglow, his courage high,He buckled on his armor of defense—The consciousness of God's omnipotence.

When We Shall Know

Free to express infinity!

God is Everywhere

I stood on a lonely hilltopBeneath a wind-swept sky,And my weary thought asked doubtinglyIf God was really nigh.

"Wait. and love more"*

Wait , watch, and work; in patience humbly pray;Wait for the blessings which Love sends each day;Watch over every thought, lest wrong creep in;Work to know Love is All, and false is sin.

No Condemnation

O troubled heart, with load of guilt oppressed;Accused by haunting error day and night;List to the Master's saying, and find rest,"Now ye are clean.
