Shhh! Angels afoot!

I get it! I shouted,Telling the world,Telling a friend,Telling myself,So noisily, I almost missed the next God messageWhich came on angel wings—Peace, be still!A rustle, a whisper, pointing out the Way,In daily, hourly, by-the-moment steps,Forever leading upward.
Who heard the angels sing?

When he left my house,At times I was temptedBy the fear, the darkness at noon,The never knowing when/ifHe was coming home.

Think of the wonder in their eyesThose shepherds taken by surpriseAnd told to go to Bethlehem!Silently they left their sheepThis most sacred trust to keep—Followed, scarcely knowing why,The star that beckoned from the sky.

The listening mission

The humblest heartWill soonest knowThe love and will of God.
