Cannot be fed by nouvelle cuisinematerial statusor yet another trip,for the heart's deeper yearnings arefed only by the bread of Life,the practical understanding of Truth,the angel food of Love,which change the base ofthought and life from flesh to Spirit,nudging life ever upwardtoward the ever-at-homespiritual idea forever at onewith the all-embracingFather-Mother God.

To the wakeful one

If in the past-midnight darkness nagging unhealedworries angers fearssorrows pains doubtsfrom which your up-and-at-'em/off-and-runningdaytime busying successfully (you thought)cloaked and shielded younow—unbidden—prick you to uneasyall-unwilling half-awakeness,why lingerwallowing, drifting, resisting, postponinginevitable confrontationthe active Christ in you demands?

Steadfast Love,that's what You are,my Father and my friend.

Thought for raiment

These children weavethrough the warp of my prayerskeins of what they really areshuttling through my heartfrom tree house to closetfrom faucet to swingsfrom attic to cellarmy loom all day long singsImmanuelImmanuelImmanuel—not demandingI unthreadthis handiwork of hometo tabernacle with God—but letting all I dofor His little onesenlarge the borders of loveseamlessly.
