O Still Small Voice!

O still small voice that came in stillness of the Horeb height,That hushed to silence earthquake, wind, and flame,Come whisper now, that we forget the hour of shameful flight,When evil menaced him who loved Thy name!

Close to Thee, O God

O, May I walk so close to Thee, from hour to hour,That ever on my upward way,When doubts or fears my path assail,When evil claims my footsteps fail,I then may have the grace to say:I walk with God, and know there is no other power!

Happiness

There is a peace which passeth understanding; There is a joy no man can take away;It is in knowing God, the one creator,And man, His image, as the Scriptures say.
This home is blessed! The open gate swings wide; the watchful light,Its beacon, kindles on the edge of night.

The Great Supper

Go ye out into the highways,Bring My wandering children backTo the feast of Love's preparing; In My house there is no lack.

Bethesda Pool

Many seasons beside the poolI sought the troubled waters first in line,But ever as I strove to goAnother's step was swifter than was mine.

The Love of God

The love of God is shownIn smile or kindly greeting,Encouraging the burdened oneTo see that fear is fleeting.

Love

Companioned ever on life's wayBy Love divine,My path illumed by Truth's clear ray,What joy is mine!

My Place

Dear God, Thou hast a place prepared for me,A place that only wisdom's eye can see; And, knowing this, I need not seek an earthly place,Nor outline how Thy hand shall lead me on,But I'll accept each day the joys Thy tender graceProvides.

The Hem of His Garment

Could we but touch with true humilityHis garment's hem, that simple touch would bringA glad renewal of life, renewal of joy:Earth-trammeled thoughts would soar on bolder wing.

Two Visitors

Self came in at the door—Self, with its tattered gown;Peevish and drab and poor,Self came in with a frown:I must push and struggle and striveIn order to keep alive—Or else I should soon be dead—Self said.
