"Be still, and know"

"Be still, and know"That God is God.

The Way

Except your pen should gild a thought with beauty;Except your soul should sing within your song;Excepting that your inmost sense of dutyShould strive the tone of goodness to prolong;Excepting, in a word, your heart's desireWere honestly to give the world its due,Far better, heart, to quench the hidden fire,Than, speaking, thus bring more of ill to view.

Overcoming

Whoso proceeds in ordered wayAnd holds unshaken confidenceIn God's directing, day by day,Shall fear no dizzy eminence;Nor shall the hordes of mortal senseCause him to falter in the fray,Since midst the clouds of darkness denseGod is his changeless strength and stay.

Coworkers

Herein the grace of God must be,That all may work with Him, and seeHis law unfold as harmony.

Transparency

Here I would hold my light on high,With steady hand, and true,That down some darkening way its gleam May guideA faltering step that gropes to find,Mid shadows closing in,A refuge, where in peace it mayAbide.

Aspiration

"By faith he [Moses] forsook Egypt.

A Prayer

To be as trusting as a little child,In calm assurance of the promise sweet,—By thought of limitation unbeguiled,To prove that Love our every need doth meet.

Great Possessions

My great possessions lie before me spread,With all the dear associations:Treasures of by-gone days;Things I learned in childhood; took to my heartand lived with; fought for; Some whom I loved and shared my treasures with.
