Additional contributions have swelled the amount of the Halifax relief collection, taken at the Sunday services of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, so that the total amount now reported by the treasurer, Bliss Knapp, is $8320.

Boston, the Mecca of so many Nova Scotians for two generations past, was in the field as soon as if it had been a city in its nearest sister state, and from the time when the first relief train was started down to the present hour has added gift to gift.
On several occasions recently the public has noticed in "The Voice of the People" the linking of two teachings with Christian Science in a way likely to give the reader the erroneous impression that all three are alike.
Speedy action was taken by the Christian Science organization in Boston to provide relief for Halifax people who are in distress on account of the explosion of the munitions ship and the resulting fire.

A recent issue reports a clergyman as condemning Christian Science as heresy.
Individuals unite in their efforts to protect their civic and religious rights, and these efforts result in governments of state and church.
While the writer was reading the gospel narrative of the birth of Jesus these questions presented themselves: Why were the shepherds, diligently guarding their flocks under the silent stars, the only ones who heard the joyous song of the angels?

Smiting the Enemy

It is recorded in the book of Joshua that as the children of Israel journeyed toward the promised land, even long after had passed through the Red Sea and later through the waters of the Jordan, after they had been fed by manna and after they had taken Jericho, even then one enemy after another appeared to block their progress.
