Safety in the big city

A few weeks ago, I was invited to an ice skating exhibition in another part of the city where I live. I planned my route using public transportation, but just before leaving, I realized I could walk that distance in the same amount of time. It was a rare mild day in the middle of winter, and I really looked forward to enjoying the warm weather. So I set off for the ice skating rink with a smile on my face and a bounce in my step.

Ten yards into the walk, a sudden wave of fear hit me. Was this really a good idea? The sun was setting, and I wasn’t sure how well-lit the path would be. Disturbing possibilities of what could happen on the way raced through my imagination.

I didn’t want fear to decide my method of transportation. Unsure of what to do, I prayed. I reasoned that since divine Love is spiritual and limitless, then Love is everywhere. Therefore, only infinite Love fills the consciousness of everyone I could come into contact with, and only infinite Love would impel their actions.
