Prayer is an active step

I recently watched a documentary called Girl Rising, which tells the stories of nine girls from around the world who stand up for their right to an education. It’s a powerful film that shows how important it is for us all to advocate for what we believe in, and to ensure that others have the opportunities they deserve.

This film also presents audiences with some sobering statistics. For instance, 66 million girls from all over the world are not currently enrolled in school. One in four girls is born into poverty. Globally, it seems that girls’ education is often not a priority.

After watching this film, I found myself wondering what I can do, and what others like me can do, when we feel so far away from problems that much of the world’s population face—problems we can’t always relate to or understand. Is it even possible to address an issue that seems so big and so out of our control?
