The holidays: do angels do "errands"?
The holidays were coming to town, along with many family members. I wanted to do all the traditional baking, cooking, decorating, and gift giving. But I had a feeling this year would be different. I could not keep up with all the family traditions, plus support my husband who was in a care center. How would I manage?
Every morning, I had been spending many hours in prayer and study of the Christian Science Bible Lesson, so it was natural to look for spiritual answers. I remembered something I learned through taking Primary class instruction in Christian Science. It was to remember that every one coming into my home brings his or her own supply. Supply is about spiritual substance, so it’s God-given and within us. I had proven this through healings I’d had before, so was more certain of it now.
The Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, says in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, “Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need” (p. 494). Soon, I became convinced that every need is truly met. I also found comfort in Mrs. Eddy’s assurance that if we plant our steps in the Christ, Truth, “Then will angels administer grace, do thy errands, and be thy dearest allies” (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 129).
