Hearing God
Over fear and pain and sorrow,
I heard words of comfort, peace, and love.
Over storms of doubt and confusion,
I heard words of strength and power.
When my questionable senses complained,
over the din, I heard, “Be still, and know that I am God.” Psalms 46:10
When I thought my faith too small,
I heard instead, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart.” Proverbs 3:5
That still, small voice tenderly repeats the Christly promises
“I will heal thee” II Kings 20:5
“I will give thee rest” Exodus 33:14
“My beloved is mine” Song of Solomon 2:16
Reminding me that "we are the children of God,” Romans 8:16
spiritual and perfect forever.
