Collections

I’m happily surprised to see my daughter’s collection of
tiny glass bottles, smooth stones, and sun-bleached shells,
treasured possessions stowed in basement boxes.

Rediscovered, they seem precious.

Looking through my corners of thought I find
one or two solid, grand, and lasting ideas to keep through the years:

There’s only one, eternal, forever good God,
the creator I’ve loved since childhood.

We’re enfolded by His honor, majesty, mercy, as Isaiah and the psalms describe.

Thankful, I pause to consider
Spirit’s might and tenderness presently revealed.

As burnished gems refract light, so my letting in of expansive spiritual views
brings multifaceted uplift

. . . a lightness
and an impervious joy
to cherish.
