Singing and soaring
Moriah Early-Manchester
Can I sing in the raging storm
when the shore is out of sight?
When engulfed in fear,
overwhelmed with despair,
can I sing?
The waking birds
in the dark early hours
sing to greet the sun
and welcome the dawning day.
As they sing, the night retreats—
the light extends its warm embrace
to those who wait expectantly.
Can I sing like the birds
before the light has returned?
Can I welcome Truth’s dawn
into my mourning heart?
Indeed I can,
for I am made to sing and soar
through the night, through the storm.
I am like the birds—
with a song in my heart.
