Inalienable rights
Devon Burr
God has endowed man with inalienable rights, among which are self-government, reason, and conscience.
—Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health
with Key to the Scriptures, p. 106
In the beginning
was dominion,
no human opinion
in Spirit’s realm.
This self-government—
heavenly judgment—
is Truth’s dis-cover-ment
to its dear child.
So every season
reveals Mind’s reason,
a well-spring artesian
watering thought.
Thus shines forth man’s conscience
under Love’s sweet guidance
and its correspondence
to God’s faithful Word.
