Resolve
Joan Hellmund
I need inspired overdrive to quell
the tendency to trade off great for less,
fulfill routine, invite distractions that
would fritter time, and useful purpose spill.
I strive to take the long view once again,
to choose the satisfying, better part,
regain the model infinite in sight,
and claim the conscious worth of discipline.
Inertia tempts defeat before the start,
but, step by step, resistance falls away.
Hard work, long shirked, concludes productive days
with healing fruitage hitherto unseen.
Small choices, stacked daily, form my prayer.
Love primes the pump, unloosing more to share.
