Students and drugs: a dialogue
Originally published in the 1969 pamphlet titled “Students and Drugs”
The following is an adaptation from a recorded dialogue between Richard Gray, college student, and author Robert Peel. It was broadcast on the international radio series, "The Bible Speaks to You," produced by the Christian Science Church.
GRAY: Most students I know may never have been to a "pill party" but they are familiar with drugs. Many students who wouldn't think of taking heroin or marijuana think nothing of relying upon the ordinary tranquilizer or a pill that will give them a lift when they're depressed. In fact, some have taken so many things to calm them down, or to keep them awake or to put them to sleep that they might ask: What's really harmful about the use of any mind-altering drug, if it's done carefully?
