God's work in action

I had an experience that clearly taught me the blessings of getting myself out of the way, in order to allow God’s work to shine through.

One morning after I had done my morning studies and prayer, I stepped outside for a walk, intending to have a nice conversation with God. All of a sudden I was unexpectedly overcome with a very fervent desire to see God’s work in action. I prayed: “God, I am really, really grateful for all the good You have shown me through my work for You. All of it is very good. But You are great! I’d like to see more of what I know You are capable of.”

Not knowing that God had already begun to answer my prayer, the next thing I thought was, “How can I be a ‘good Samaritan’ right now?” (see Luke 10). I knew I had to make a trip to the grocery store that day, and so I decided to go to my neighbor’s house and see if she needed anything.
