Deterioration a false belief

Originally published in the 1972 pamphlet titled “Renewal”

Christian Science teaches the self-sustaining perfection and measureless permanency of Life, Spirit, God. Man, God's perfect likeness, fully shares these attributes of God through spiritual reflection. Therefore he is as perfect as God, as invulnerable, his vitality as undiminishing. Man responds only to the action of Spirit, Mind; is not subject to any claim of some other causation, nor is he swayed by any other influence but that of the Christ, Truth. Because God is his Mind, man cannot possibly believe any statement or accept any line of reasoning that does not emanate from divine Principle, the infinite source of all reality.

Because the divine idea reflects the nature of Mind, man expresses tireless being; under God's constant control and protection he partakes of the imperishable substance of good which appears in human experience as unchanging wholesomeness of mind and body, a successful life free of burdens and sparkling with spiritual spontaneity and happiness.

There is no deterioration of the spiritual relationship between God and man, no cessation of the blessings that come to man through his coexistence with God. God preserves intact His spiritual creation. To understand these truths of our being, to maintain our God-given ability to manifest them, and then to resist the opposition of the mortal sense of life and substance is to be unafraid of the suggestions of loss of vitality or deterioration; it is to rejoice in ever-renewing vigor, to experience mental and physical effectiveness and harmony.
