Tsunami survivor–child of our prayers

Originally appeared on spirituality.com

Some folk said you might
never laugh again.
Others thought
you would in time...
They had witnessed
the destruction of
your world and thought
laughter impossible!
Many of us prayed.

You are not the
child of the tsunami,
forever held in
its ebb and flow.
You are the idea
of divine consciousness—
vibrant, alive,
animated by Life
that cannot be stilled.

Today the world
saw you laugh.
Your dark eyes
flashed with light,
your face softened,
and for a moment
you were happy—
and a camera
caught your joy.

The inextinguishable
light that shines
through all the claims
of your experience
is right there in your smile.
You are the child of
our hopes and our prayers.
You are the future,
you are, forever, Love's dear child.
