Prayer for world peace
Live audio chat with Fujiko Signs, C.S.B.
In her opening comments, Fujiko shares many helpful thoughts about the Bible’s promises of peace and how to obtain it. Mentioning the beatitude, “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God” (Matthew 5:9), she says that if we accept the thought that we are all the children of God, then we all actually are peacemakers. She makes the point that by getting closer to our true Parent, God, we get closer to our brothers and sisters around the world, whether in the Middle East, in Asia, or elsewhere. She also says that “prayer is taking the initiative toward world peace.”
Among the questions: how to overcome the feeling that one’s prayers won't make a difference; prayerfully dealing with negative news coverage and the tendency to be influenced or fascinated by it; how to create a desire for peace between warring sides, and how to find peace in church. Site visitors asked: Why do we have to pray for peace? Does peace begin with individual prayer? Does Christ cause peace? In addition to these and other questions, site visitors offered thoughts of their own about how to obtain peace and also how the power of hope can help.
