Christian Science healing: a global movement

Lyle Young, C.S.B.

In this chat, which grew out of workshops Lyle conducted in many parts of the world, he says that seeing spiritual truth practiced in diverse cultures helped him to understand in a practical way that Christian Science doesn’t emanate from Boston, the worldwide headquarters for the Church, but is found in every human heart. Through this universal law, "we can gain a very inclusive sense of Christian Science that embraces and uplifts everyone. It destroys any artificial wall between Christian Science and the community because we see that we all have the Mind that was in Christ Jesus, one intelligent source which is God."

In response, site visitors asked questions about facets of the public practice of Christian Science, including the role of morality, how to give prayer-based treatment, how to be more willing to reach out to others. Some focused on aspects of Church such as how to feel more inspired to pray for the world, how to have a more active Reading Room, to inspire one's church, and to share Christian Science. Others asked about conditions in need of healing such as bad memories from past abusive experiences, and how to be persistent in prayer.
