The Child of God

His waking thoughts are of his God,To whom with unfeigned praise he turns,And heartfelt song of gratitudeFor all the good on him bestowed.

Praise

I am so thankful, Lord of love, to knowThat ceaselessly Thy living waters flow;E'en though another find the fountain first,Or with a readier cup allay his thirst,Still on I press, rejoicingly, and knowThat for each one those living water flow.

The Upper Room

The faithful few who doubted not the Master's wordWere waiting, hearts attuned, in one divine accord,To greet the promised one, the Comforter,When lo! it came with rushing wind and flaming tongues of fire,Inspiring each to heal and save by Truth's almighty power,To bring salvation sure to men,And carry on the work the Christ began.

Vision

"This is woman's hour, with all its sweet amenities and its moral and religious reforms.

Wide Swing the Gates

Dim, distant vision, gray and indistinct,Hidden as yet in the dense mortal haze,Beckons our faith that knows before it seesThe dawn of happiness, of God's bright days.

Peter

HE loved his Master truly, deeply—yet, Upon that night of gloom, confused by fears, Thrice he denied him.

From Church

The demand for church

I like to think of each church that grows up in a community as that community's answered prayer for the presence of the saving Christ—the message of God's love for humanity.

Come Out of Egypt

Out of Egypt He has called you,Out of bondage, out of sin;Have you heard the constant callingThat is stilling error's din?

Abba, Father

Abba, Father, ere Thy lightPierced the darkness of my night,Blind, estranged, I seemed to roam,Far away from love and home; But since Truth hath shown Thee nigh,Abba, Father! now I cry.

Confidence

I cannot be discouragedSince Love is ever near.
When I do know that Thou art All, O God,A sense of calm assurance comes; and thoughMy path be strewn with obstacles, I findIt possible to follow on, my handIn Thine! And as Thou leadest me beyondThe maze where fear or doubt would baffle me,Oh, then I pause in deep humility,My heart to rest within Thy wondrous light,My feet to stand more firmly on the rock,My voice to cry aloud in gratitudeThat Thou art All.

Humility

THE Master's true humility, His unselfed love, Taught gentle, willing fisher folk Truth from above.

Substance

DIVINE ideas abound eternally, For Mind omniscient is and infinite, And ever has, and will, unceasingly Fulfill each promise set in Holy Writ.
