To-day

To-day, I talked with God when morning brokeAnd birds their matins sang, the leaves among; And, in that sweet communion, my heart caughtA clear reflection of the radiant morn,And worshiped, with all nature at His feet.

Semi-distraught, perchance thou paced the night:Vain to seek counsel from the earth or sky—The town beneath thee dark, or dimly lit,Seeming as if earth's stars below did lie,And up above, the unseeing void of heaven.

Loving

No ill from senses' dreaming,False lights in morass gleaming,If faithful thought is teemingWith love for God and man.

"No death"

They tell me he has died; But is he dead?

The Father's Planting

Ev'ry plant that my Father plantethMay grow in my garden fair;Ev'ry flower that my Father lovethHath His tender and watchful care.

Omnipresence

Nay , be not sad: thou'rt not alone!E'er came the clouds, how brightly shoneThe sun o'er hill and valley fair:Behind those clouds the sun shines there!Ah, well we know, though mortal senseDoth hide God's holy immanence,Love still is here and guards us well.

Mary Baker Eddy

No thought of self, no seeking after fame;No love of ease or wish for worldly gain;No goal so low! but, striving in His name,She wrought for us; nor thought her labor vain.
