As a Child

I lose the sense of passing years, of time;Youth is renewed,And thoughts are preened for happier, loftier flight,When I become a child.

Inspiration

In deep and somber fastness of a woodA silent golden cataract of lightO'er crags of green and yellow foliage leaps,Nor bends its radiant courseTill in the troubled mirror of a poolIts molten splashes far across the fernsWake glimm'ring light,Like diamond dew amid the maidenhair.

A Prayer

Father, I knowThat day by day,And hour by hour,Thou art the Way;And as I trustThy great all-power,I thus can proveThat Christ is Truth;That health and strengthAnd peace and youthAre but my heritageFrom Thee—Thy bounties, oh! so freely giv'n,Of happiness and loveAnd heaven!

O Love Divine!

O Love divine that meets all need,Thou 'rt with us all the way,A never failing guard by night,A guiding hand by day;

"He leadeth me"

"He leadeth me"—'t is joy to knowMy halting steps need never strayIn paths of doubt, where sorrow dwells,Since I am guided all the way.
