The Comforter

Truth is my fortress and my strength,My comfort and my rod;In times of seeming doubt and fear,My refuge and my God.

Love More!

Love more! The gentle words came clearly to my earFrom one who long had worked, and earnestly,To free me from the thrall of error's chains:The letter you have gained abundantly,The one thing that is needed is to love.

From Church

The demand for church

I like to think of each church that grows up in a community as that community's answered prayer for the presence of the saving Christ—the message of God's love for humanity.

We of ourselves can nothing do,Thy Word alone has power, is true.

Awakening

I slept ! Fear lay upon me, shadowlike,Filled with the dark foreboding of the dreamsOf finite sense.

All through the night he prayed,Wrapped in the thick darknessAnd density of fear;Prayed to be deliveredFrom gnawing pain and lack,Beseeching the God of loveAnd infinite compassion.

Peace

How lovely is the soft gray dusk,When all the earth is still,When flowers are closed, and birds are hushed,And pearl-mist veils the hill! Then turns my heart to thoughts of peace,To God, who tenderlyEnfolds all nature in His arms,—Our loving Father He.

"Be still, and know that I am God"

"Be still, and know that I am God"!O Word, so fraught with calm and peace divine,Enter into my thought, and dwelling thereMake it like Thine!

Worship

Our Father-Mother, Love divine,Grant us Thy peace, Thy joy impart,That we may worship Thee arightWith purified and grateful heart.

The Gospel of Love

Held within Thy boundless love,Joyously we rise aboveError's way.

The Seamless Dress

As she, amidst that thronging crowd,Was rudely jostled and delayedBefore she reached the Christ-endowed,And, touching, found her issue stayed; So we amidst the whirling throngOf mortal thoughts that daze the mind,Seem hindered, as we press along,When we the God-idea would find.

Prayer

OH , not for added blessings,     Dear Father, would we pray;We know Thy gracious presence     Is with us all the way;But to the truth of being     Open our eyes to-day!
