Poems

Loveliness

To make the loveliness of LoveMy own is my desire.

In the Closet of Prayer

Weary, disheartened, I turned from life's woes,Seeking relief from my care;Silently, humbly, with famishing heartEntered the closet of prayer;Bowed in the closet of prayer.

All is Well

O earth-bound heart, though sorrows surge around thee,And hateful dreams of evil hide the light; The outstretched arms of mighty Love surround thee,Truth's dawning ends the darkest hours of night.

Clean through the Word

It seemed that I had earned His healing touch,Some token of His ever mindful care,After long months of quiet pondering,Close study of the word and daily prayer.

Childlikeness

Just for the joy of a little child,O Lord, I pray,That I may greet with happinessEach glad new day,Knowing my Father-Mother LoveWith me will stay.

Thought Unconfined

None are shut in and none shut out from Love; For hearts enriched by love must overflow—No walls bound right desire—it soars above.

Peace

Sometimes there comes a pauseBetween the varied noises of the hour—A pause.

"We shall be"

"It doth not yet appear.

Soul-satisfied

"In the quiet sanctuary of earnest longings, we must deny sin and plead God's allness.

Our Shepherd

Within the circle of His comprehending love,Our Shepherd, Mind, unwearied, watches night and day;His children are His flock, His loved, His own; He tendsThem in His infinitely tender, patient way.

Joy

When your heavens are as brassAnd joy has fled, andEvery door shut,Do not forget the oneThat opens inward—The door of your heart,Whose handle is on the insideAnd which only you can open.
