The rod which Moses carried in his hand,and which he doubtless used when climbing hills,or crossing streams, or guiding wayward sheep,when cast upon the ground—at wisdom's bidding,for a sign—became a serpent suddenly,and Moses fled from it in terror!

Love's Compensation

I do not grieve because the way is strait,Because it narrows to the heavenly gate,For Love illumines it with light so great,Outshining hate.

Now!

I need not wait for passing daysTo give our God all power and praise;For now I am the Father's child—Perfect, free, and undefiled.

The Pure in Heart

Not with reluctance, but with joywe pass beneath His rod.
