THE CLOSED DOORS

Closed doors! They speak to us of human fear,As when King Herod, keen to please the JewsHad Peter chained to guards and thrown in jailBehind closed doors and hoped by doing soTo silence, once for all, the truths he taught—Upsetting truths to smug complacency.

OUT OF THE ARK

The earnest of the Word requitesWith love the weary and the sad;And to the body's plaint of illAppends a period.

THE NEW NAME—PAUL

One human heartImpregnatedWith the light of Truth;A life corrected,A mission redirectedIn ways of love.

LEADERSHIP

Do we follow, with stumbling, His chosen scribe,Meeting demands with diatribe—Seeing no more than gifted penOr talent like that of other men?

TESTIMONY OF HEALING

The light of Spirit's shining in that hourTransfigured all my illumined eyes could see,Shone out of heaven as sunlight on a flower,Transmuting time into eternity.

The demand for church

I like to think of each church that grows up in a community as that community's answered prayer for the presence of the saving Christ—the message of God's love for humanity.

Pray consistentlyfor what you most desire;thus faith will grow.
Humility, waking to the presenceof infinitywith a willing heart, looks away from the proud disparityof mortal senseand finds the clarityof Soul, revealing man's true science and artnow Genesis-simple, Christ pure hereand whole!

THE BLESSED OF THE LORD

Oh, firmly close the door upon the past!It has no part in Love's eternal now;Nor has the future, nebulous and vast.

UP FROM JORDAN

False pride entangled me, my steps were caughtIn web or snare; then, breaking through the dream,Words like Elisha's stirred my inmost thought:"Immerse thyself in Jordan's healing streamFull seven times and cleanse thyself of pride,Self-righteousness, self-will, and arrogance.

THEY KNEW NOT

They lovedthe pride of place, the pomp and ceremony, and the clink of penniessqueezed from the widows' meager store.

THE WALL

We were not tallenough to see beyond the somber wallof ignorance and fear.
